Estimating Transfer function model for Boost Converter

Hi,

I want to evaluate the System identification tool-box that we have purchased in our comapny. For this, I wanted to evaluate a known transfer function of a Boost converter Output Voltage to duty cycle in the continuous domain. For the power electornics portion, I use the PLECS software.

The question that I want to ask here is, How do I perform the frequency sweep of the plant using the System identification tool-box? In the example project provided by Mathworks, the functions, linio, frest.Sinestream etc. are being used for this purpose (<http://www.mathworks.com/products/sysid/demos.html?file=/products/demos/shipping/ident/iddemo_BoostConverter.html)>. I believe these functions are a part of the “Simulink Control Design” toolbox. We have not purchased this toolbox. Is this a must for prefoming this task? Is there any way to do the frequency sweep and bode plots with only the System Identification toolbox? Please help me with your answers.

In the example you mentioned the frequency sweep is performed on a Simulink model. You are correct that frest and other functions in that example are from Simulink Control Design product. These functions are used to create the input signal, run it through Simulink model, record the output signal, and calculate model’s frequency response.

System Identification Toolbox is then used to estimate a transfer function based on that frequency response.

In your case, you will need to create the input signal, run it through your boost converter model, and record the output data.
